Traditionally, women wore dresses & skirts and according to Britannica, “The adoption of pants as a popular item of dress for women in Western society traces its roots to the mid-19th-century dress-reform movement. Although there were women of this time who were already wearing pants like clothing if they were engaged in physical exercise or household work, the garments were typically worn out of the public eye”

1. Classic Pants

Classic pants are the usual basic trouser that women wear at work. You can pair this up with the shirt, jacket and stilettos for that formal look or you can also pair them with a printed T-shirt for the smart casual. Another idea is to wear these trousers with your shimmery glittery blouse for a fancy dinner.

2. Flared Pants

Flared pant

Flared pants are cinched at the waist and they flow over the body. Flared pants in your formal trouser fabric can be used for work and they work for most body types.

3. Bell Bottom Pants

Bell bottom or bootleg pants are tighter at the waist and thigh area, they flare from the knee and below. These are great for someone who have petite or tiny lower body / the hip and thigh area.

4. Chino Pants

Chino Pant

Chinos are also a type of formal trousers made from a cotton blend fabric produced originally in China called Chino and hence the name. Chinos and Khakis are very similar except Chino will be lighter in weight and Khaki will be heavier in weight. Chinos can be used for a slightly formal event because the stitches are hidden and khakis are worn for casual day events.

5. Paper bagpaperbag style

Paperbag pants have a paperbag style of ruching around the waist. Wear them with a T-shirt, singlets for casual look or a shirt can be worn for office. Since the highlight is at the ruching around the waist please avoid if you are heavy at the midriff.

 

6. Jeggings

Jeggings are a crossover between jeans and pants. They are slightly thicker in fabric then your regular leggings.

7. LeggingsLeggings

Leggings originally were used for exercise and gym wear but now leggings are very well used as the regular pant.  Since the fabric sticks to your body and the fabric is extremely light, You can wear a slightly longer top if you’re conscious of your body area.

8. Pull On

Pull on pants are elasticated pants which you just pull up to wear. They wouldn’t have any zipper or buttons as it’s closing.

9. Drawstrings

Drawstring pants are pants with drawstrings around the waist. They are great as transitional pants if you fluctuate weight very easily around the midriff.

10. Culottes

Culottes are knee-length to ankle length full leg trouser which was originally made to resemble a skirt. Culottes are a great style to wear at all occasions.

11. LeatherLeather pant

Leather pants are actually pants made of real leather but for women who don’t wear real leather they can opt for faux leather or replace them with suede pants. They come in various styles, from fitted to as loose as flared pants.

12. Sailor

Originally sailor pants are pants with wide leg silhouette and three side buttons usually in gold colour. But now the sailor pants have been modified into skinny, denims and even shorts.

13. Drawstring bottom

The drawstring bottom pant will have drawstrings at the hemline so you can wear the pants as a straight pants or pull in the drawstring and create a new style of a tapered paper bag at the hem.

14. Split leg

A Split leg trouser will have a split / slit at the hem. The splits can be as small as 1 inch or for a dramatised pant, the splits go till the thigh length.

15. Petal LegPetal leg Pant

As the name suggest the whole look or the feel of the pant from the front will be like a petal and a straight fit from the back.

16. WrapZEENA TROUSERS

Wrap pants won’t have predefined waist but like wrap dresses and skirts you can actually wrap the pants and create a waist curve.

17. Harem

Harem pants are absolutely casual fun pants that has elasticated fit to your ankle.

18. DhotiDhoti Pant

Dhoti pants also also call Vesti and they outwardly resemble like a sarong. The silk embroidered dhoti pants are used for festive dressing to create a fusion.

19. Cargo joggers

Cargo joggers are a stylised version of cargo pants. They have elasticated hem line. So unlike cargo pants, cargo joggers taper towards the end.

20. Cargo Pant

Cargo pants were originally used for military purposes. They are loose heavy cotton pants and have 2-4 deep pockets on the side. They are definitely worn for more sporty or outdoorsy events.

21. Utility PantUtility Pant

Utility pants have become very popular in the last few years. They are also similar to cargo pants except utility pants have stylised bright colours of patch pockets and elasticated waist bands. They are very popular amongst the younger generation with crop tops.
